Gucci New Jackie Large Shoulder Bag

Spring 2009 has passed. Is there something in fashion world lighting your eyes up. For me a new color, violet bag is absolutely gorgeous and rises to the top of everyone's want lists.

Gucci New Jackie Large Shoulder Bag 219704. It's a slouchy, modern, younger version of a bag that everyone knows and that really needed an update. They did one thing that I hate, though - they gave it an extra, completely unnecessary, annoying strap. The bag can already easily be carried on the shoulder by its natural handle, and the extra strap is only a few inches longer and makes the bag hang oddly when used. Since the original strap is not a separate, attached piece but part of the bag's structure, it looks like it would be all up in the wearer's armpit when using the extra strap.

Gucci Metallic Leather Shoulder Bag

When people mention Gucci, the thing rush into my mind is the signature GG pattern. I am sure many of you think the same way. So honestly, when I saw the Gucci Metallic Leather Shoulder Bag 197019, I was wondering if I forgot to put my contacts in this morning. I guess I am just not used to a Gucci handbag or piece of clothing without the traditional check print.
Ok, I'm over it, let's talk about the bag. The gunmetal metallic leather bag has silver hardware, handle bag with double handles, zip-top closure, metal gucci crest detail, and inside zip, cell phone and pda pockets. 15.4″L x 7.9″W x 10.2″H.

I like when I see brands branch out and try new things. I am just wondering if we are all ready for this kind of change. The bag certainly had a modern feel which is so polar opposite to the traditional pattern we are all accustom to. I have to say I appreciate the effort behind the design and the desire to appeal to a new market. However, I think the bag looks a little too modern for me. Actually, now that I think of it, the bag looks a little too Judy Jetson for my liking. Yet, at the same time, with the right outfit, you could totally make the bag work. Man, it sounds like I can't make up my mind. I blame it on how shocked I am that this is a gucci bag. What do you think - did gucci take a step in the right or wrong direction?

Sure, there isn't anything about this bag that is out of the ordinary or that really catches the eye. Yet, at the same time, I think we can all use a bag or two that is a staple in our collection.
